This Position reports to: Engineering and Service Manager

As a Senior Field Service Engineer/Technician, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical support and service to our customers. You will perform installations, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and repairs on traction equipment, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. This role is contributing to the Motion Traction business and is based in Maryborough, Queensland. The work model for the role is onsite and require interstate travel to provide field service support services.

Responsibilities

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Perform installations, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of traction equipment independently
  • Identify technical problems and make analysis through remote or on-site activities and make recommendations to solve technical issues
  • Coordinate, prepare and ensure that all materials, parts and equipment are available and at the appropriate quality for Service activities on site and at customers
  • Applying safety rules and safe practices, as well as environmental responsibilities during all service activities
  • Leading Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activities at customer sites and reporting unsafe practices and incidents to ensure a safe working environment
  • Identifying new service business opportunities in close cooperation with customers and ABB teams
  • Coaching other technicians, and supervising complex site activities and developing, mentoring, and providing technical guidance to colleagues
  • Acting as a trainer when needed, for both team members and customers

Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineer with minimum 8 years experience with Australian Electrical Work License (or equivalent)
  • Or Australian Electrical Work License holder (or equivalent) with minimum 10 years experience in testing and commissioning of traction equipment
  • Established know-how of traction applications, power electronics and programmable logic control (PLC)/Vehicle control unit (VCU) would be welcomed
  • Previous experience working in a service environment
  • Strong manual and analytical skills for troubleshooting, creative problem-solving, and conducting thorough data analysis and reporting
  • Be highly organized, with the ability to work autonomously and prioritise and plan jobs to meet customer requirements within agreed timeframes
  • You are at ease communicating and corresponding in English
