About the Role

This Position reports to: Senior Project Engineer

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Each day, you will complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by applying basic design thinking/design for excellence concepts in projects. In this role, you'll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.

Division: Electrification business in Distribution Solution division

Your Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparing, reviewing and approving engineering designs, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with customer and contractual requirements
  • Support Mechanical Engineering of ABB MV Switchgear and equivalent product and solution portfolio(s) across the Global factories
  • Collaborate closely with customers and project teams to clarify technical needs, define solutions, and resolve issues throughout the project lifecycle
  • Utilize checklists to perform design verification according to applicable standards and engineering guidelines
  • Coordinate strongly with supply chain, manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and service teams to ensure designs are correctly built, installed, and updated
  • Identify risks and drive continuous improvement, standardization, and optimization of engineering processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering (full time)
  • 2 to 5 Years of experience in Design / Design to Order (DTO) / Project Engineering
  • Hands on experience in CAD (Solidworks, AutoCAD, any 3D CAD Software, etc.), Engineering drawings
  • Sheetmetal Design, Bill of Material (BOM)
  • Knowledge of materials and material standards (IS, EN, ISO, DIN, ASME, etc.) and different manufacturing processes
  • Experience in Medium voltage Switchgear product portfolio (IEC/ANSI)
  • Familiarity with international standards like IEC/IEEE
  • Ability to work within a virtual organization and to communicate across cultures
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to influence both internally and externally
