Lead the future of automation upgrades.

ABB has a unique installed base of automation, electrical, and telecom systems worldwide, many of them operating reliably for decades. As these systems age, the need for safe, efficient, and sustainable upgrades is rapidly growing. To meet this demand, ABB has established the Automation Upgrade Segment, focusing on modernizing Safety Automation Systems (SAS) and automation platforms using the latest technologies.

We are now looking for a Technical Bid Manager Team Lead to play a key role in shaping future automation upgrade solutions for our customers.

Your role

In this role, you will lead and own automation upgrade bids from early technical evaluation to final commercial offer. You will ensure that customers receive the right solution at the right time, balancing technology, risk, and commercial value.

You will also:

  • Lead and develop a team of Bid Managers in Norway and other OPC locations
  • Act as the main interface between ABB and customers during the sales phase
  • Shape competitive, high-quality technical and commercial bids
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, guiding customers and ABB teams on efficient solutions and latest technologies
  • Share expertise and lessons learned across projects, sites, and organizations
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the sales strategy within your area of responsibility
  • Lead and develop a team of bid managers in Norway and offshore/OPC locations, ensuring high quality bids throughout the entire bidding process

As part of the Automation Upgrade Technical Advisors team, you will directly influence how ABB modernizes its installed base—improving safety, efficiency, and sustainability for our customers.

What we’re looking for

  • Engineering degree, technical education, or equivalent experience
  • Solid experience from automation projects, preferably involving ABB control systems
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of: ABB 800xA, Advant, Safeguard, S+ Harmony, Melody
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate bid teams
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to understand both technical and commercial needs
  • Excellent communication skills in Norwegian and English
  • Structured, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset

What we offer

  • A key role in a growing, future-oriented automation segment
  • Strong development and career opportunities within ABB—locally and globally
  • Competitive compensation, pension, and insurance schemes
  • Flexible working model with the possibility to work partly from home
  • Share purchase program and access to company cabins and apartments

The position can be based in Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger, or Stord. Some travel related to customers, sites, and suppliers is expected.
