Key responsibilities

In this role, you will actively shape Germany's industrial future by working collaboratively with customers to develop tailored solutions for their individual challenges, based on our portfolio (automation, drives, and digital solutions). With selected customers in Northern and Eastern Germany (Hamburg to Cottbus), your regular presence, personal networking, and understanding of their processes will contribute to making production processes more efficient, digital, and sustainable – in line with the strategy of our Process Industries division within the Automation business unit. Together with our experts and other specialist and business units, you will develop innovative solutions with a clear customer focus and a focus on delivering added value.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Implementing and executing the sales strategy and strategically developing customer relationships in Northern and Eastern Germany for sustainable growth and long-term partnerships.

  • Analyzing customer needs and leveraging your knowledge of the ABB portfolio to develop customized and effective solutions that achieve optimal customer results, deliver measurable added value, and unlock sustainable innovation potential.

  • You will work closely with Marketing, other departments, Sales, and other ABB business units to develop precise sales plans and proposals, ensure technical and financial accuracy, and identify and develop new market opportunities.

  • You will manage formal technical and commercial proposals with clear contractual terms and monitor customer and market trends to develop effective sales and marketing activities.

Qualifications for the role

  • You hold a degree in a technical field, ideally electrical engineering, automation technology, or industrial engineering, or have a comparable technician or master craftsman qualification.

  • You have at least three years of experience in technical sales or in automation and drive technology, ideally with a focus on its application in the metal industry and sound knowledge of project management.

  • Ideally, you already possess product knowledge in drive or automation technology and understand how these technologies function and are integrated into customer processes.

  • Your ability to develop and maintain sustainable customer relationships, as well as your strong customer and goal orientation, set you apart.

  • You present yourself professionally and competently to customers and guide discussions to understand their challenges and translate these into requirements for our team.

  • You communicate fluently in German and English and possess excellent negotiation skills.

  • You work as part of a team and see yourself as an integral member of it. You will be responsible for the technical coordination of the proposal team during the development of our offers.

  • You are willing to travel within Germany to provide optimal on-site customer service.
