This Position reports to:

R&D Global Unit Lead:

In this role, you will lead a senior technical team, where each member owns a specific technology portfolio within their domain. You will support and challenge them to achieve their targets while playing a key role in shaping our future product architectures—including the transition toward Autonomous Versatile Robotics (AVR).

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of industrial robotics and AI, contributing to how intelligent, autonomous systems will transform manufacturing and beyond.

We are hiring for two Technology Team Lead positions: one leading the Mechatronics team and the other leading the Software Architecture team. Both roles share the same structure and expectations outlined below.

Part of the ABB Robotics Global R&D Platform, these roles operate across both current and next-generation industrial robotics platforms.

You will be accountable for:

• People leadership, development and performance management.

• Driving technology direction end to end, from scenario based road mapping through deployment, grounded in business strategy and make or buy positioning.

• Building up future competencies and driving strategic collaboration with external suppliers, research institutions, and in the industry ecosystem.

• Facilitating technical expertise and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications for the role:

• Ph.D. or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science

• Solid track record in system architecture/technology development or leading software development within large-scale product organizations.

• Extensive knowledge of industrial robotics technology stacks, or equivalent experience from adjacent industry.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity, competing priorities, and global stakeholder landscapes.

• Strong communication skills, able to distill complex technology into clear, actionable messaging for diverse audiences.
