Position Overview

Reports to: Operations Manager

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepares annual production budget, oversees progress, and determines actions to cost issues as necessary in order to manage operations within the budget and resources.
  • Develops programs, projects, goals, and metrics to lead the organization to the highest level of operational performance while optimizing working capital throughout Operations.
  • Develops and executes plans to reduce non-value-added costs, increase revenues, and delight customers by delivering products on time with high factory and supplier yields and decreasing product field failure rates.
  • Ensures that Four Quadrants (4Q) program training and methods are implemented in the organization.
  • Oversees the creation of manufacturing subcontracts and manages the subcontractor jointly with other involved disciplines, including Supply Chain Management (e.g., subcontract employees are provided guidance on health and safety requirements and work practices, and issued permits to work).
  • Provides support to the Sales team, as required, during customer visits to explain the capabilities of the manufacturing facilities.
  • Collaborates with Operational Excellence teams to integrate lean manufacturing principles into production processes.

  • Implements and ensures compliance with the ABB code of conduct, global and local standards, tools, policies, and processes in their assigned area.
  • Ensures adherence to all internal and statutory regulations and policies pertaining to the teams in scope.
  • Ensures integrity and compliance with ABB values and ethics in all activities across all teams in scope.
  • Accountable for the health and safety of all employees and contractors for the teams in scope, and continuous improvement in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) processes and integrity performance.
  • Assesses risks and safety hazards and implements plans to ensure people and equipment safety.

Collaboration / Leadership

  • Promotes and enables collaboration in the division, across divisions, business areas, and teams to maximize results for ABB.
  • Provides guidance to the teams and seeks knowledge for their own development and coaching/mentoring of the teams.
  • Manages relationships with stakeholders in their own area of responsibility and ensures alignment.
  • Ensures that their own area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled, and directed.
  • Inspires, guides, motivates, and develops direct and indirect reports within HR policies.
  • Builds effective, competent, and high-performing teams.
  • Reviews organizational effectiveness and performs competence assessments and continuous skill upgrades.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above, major in electrical engineering, power electronics, automation, or related fields preferred
  • Above 5 years of work experience in production management
  • Possess extensive factory work experience, with an understanding of the electrical and automation industries preferred
  • Good written English ability and able to communicate in spoken English
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills
