Your Role and Responsibilities
This position reports to the Global Operations Manager and is located in Vuosaari, Helsinki.
We are seeking an HSE professional to build our Health, Safety, and Environment culture across the Marine Propulsion Services organization. You will ensure compliance with group management systems, engage with internal and external stakeholders, and collaborate closely with ABB functions and business partners to enhance HSE performance. You will coach and advise leaders on HSE matters and support teams by motivating and developing them to successfully implement HSE policies and programs.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Serving as the primary HSE interface within Marine Propulsion Service and cultivating a positive HSE culture with a clear focus on HSE
- Assisting Azipod maintenance dry-docking project teams in understanding their HSE obligations, liabilities, and role requirements per local HSE law and ABB management requirements
- Participating regularly in on-site dry-docking projects to observe working conditions and interact with site teams
- Supporting the organization in ensuring that appropriate HSE equipment and tools are available and used effectively
- Overseeing HSE risk assessments to ensure compliance with requirements and verifying that all necessary preventive measures are implemented to address identified hazards
- Communicating HSE matters to management and stakeholders, sharing lessons learned and best practices within the unit and across ABB
- Reporting on HSE performance and the progress of group-level objectives, while running HSE development projects and providing regular updates to management
- Implementing legal requirements, ABB policies and standards in Marine Propulsion Service
- Participating in Marine Propulsion Service HSE audits led by ABB Local Divisions, contributing to incident investigations, and ensuring the implementation of lessons learned
Qualifications for the Role
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Tech, HSE or other relevant degree
- Several years' work experience with HSE role in industry
- Understanding and application of relevant ISO-standards (9001, 14001, 45001)
- Understanding of project and service business
- Demonstrable experience on applying theory into practice
- Target-oriented, systematic approach and practical problem-solving skills
- Positive and proactive attitude combined with self-management and strong interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel, min. 50 days per year
- Good documentation skills, fluent in spoken and written English
