Position Overview

Role: Customer Master Data Governance (MDG) Expert – SAP S/4HANA

Location: FAO Service Center, Bangalore

Global Grade: 14

Reports to: Finance Team Lead

The Customer Master Data Governance Expert will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting SAP S/4HANA Master Data Governance (MDG) solutions, with a focus on customer master data. This role requires deep SAP MDG expertise, strong understanding of data governance principles, advanced workflow configuration skills, and the ability to collaborate with global business and IT teams. The candidate will ensure high-quality, consistent, and well-governed customer master data across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

1.

Design & Implementation:

• Lead and support the design, implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of SAP S/4HANA Cloud MDG solutions focused on Customer Master
• Configure and optimize MDG data models, UI, rules, and workflows to support business processes
• Support Customer Vendor Integration (CVI) and ensure alignment with S/4HANA processes

2. Data Governance

• Define and implement enterprise-wide data governance policies, standards, and stewardship models
• Establish ownership and accountability frameworks for customer master data
• Ensure adherence to data governance best practices across business units

Workflow & Model Development:

• Design, configure, and maintain MDG workflows, change request processes, and data validation rules
• Develop and maintain MDG data models and attributes aligned with business requirements

Data Quality Management:

• Monitor, analyze, and improve customer master data quality
• Conduct periodic data audits, identify inconsistencies, and initiate corrective actions
• Define data quality KPIs and implement processes to sustain high-quality data

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

• Work closely with business SMEs, process owners, and IT teams to gather requirements
• Ensure alignment between data governance initiatives and business/IT strategies
• Manage expectations and provide clear communication to stakeholders at all levels

6. Integration Management

• Collaborate with technical teams to ensure seamless integration between SAP MDG and S/4HANA, ECC, CRM, and other non-SAP systems
• Support integration using ALE/IDOC, SOA services, and Web Services

Testing & Support:

• Plan and manage Unit Testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Troubleshoot MDG functional/technical issues and provide post-go-live support
• Ensure smooth deployment of enhancements and system upgrades

Training & Documentation:

• Develop user guides, training material, data dictionaries, and process documentation
• Conduct training sessions for end-users, key users, and data stewards

Required Skills & Experience

SAP Expertise

• Strong hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA Master Data Governance (MDG), especially Customer Master
• Deep understanding of customer master integration with SAP SD, MM, FI, and other modules
• Experience with Customer Vendor Integration (CVI) in S/4HANA environments

Technical Skills

• Proficient in SAP MDG configuration, including:
• Data modeling
  • Workflows
  • Validation & derivation rules
  • FPM UI configuration
• Knowledge of integration technologies such as ALE/IDOC, SOA, and Web Services

Data Governance

• Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and master data lifecycle management
• Proven ability to implement governance models and streamline data processes

Project & Soft Skills

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to manage and lead cross-functional/global teams
• Experience working in agile or hybrid delivery environments

Experience

• Several years of hands-on experience implementing, maintaining, and governing master data in global organizations
• Successful completion of at least 2+ global SAP MDG implementations (preferred)
• Bachelor's degree, or related field (preferred)
• SAP certifications in MDG / S/4HANA (advantage)
