Reports to: Quality Manager
Work model: Onsite, Pinetops, NC
This role is contributing to the Electrification Distribution Solutions in Pinetops, NC.
Your Role and Responsibilities
In the position of Quality Specialist you will act with Safety, Quality, Efficiency, and Productivity to ensure that products and systems meet stated requirements. Reporting to the Quality Manager you will investigate customer return issues, identify systemic and process-related failures, and drive corrective and preventive actions to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Investigate customer return issues by performing detailed root cause analysis using structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams) to identify underlying causes and systemic failures
- Collect and analyze return data to detect patterns, trends, and recurring defects; prepare comprehensive reports highlighting key drivers and actionable insights for management review
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, engineering, supply chain) to validate findings and implement corrective and preventive actions that effectively address root causes
- Develop and maintain CAPA documentation ensuring compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements; track implementation progress and verify effectiveness of corrective measures
- Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders through clear presentations and reports, providing strategies for process improvements and risk mitigation
- Monitor post-implementation performance to confirm sustained resolution of issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aligned with ISO 9001 standards
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in a STEM field is preferred
- One year experience in a quality role within a manufacturing environment is preferred
- Knowledge of different methodologies of problem solving (RCA and CAPA) such as 5Y, 8D, 3A, etc. as well as FMEA, Control Plans, APQP, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies
- Proficient at Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Familiar with SAP, Windchill, Gensuite, Relex Minitab or Power BI is preferred
- Organized and able to manage multiple competing priorities
- Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, CQE, or CQA are a plus
- Knowledge of SAP, Windchill, or Document Control systems are a plus
- Experience working with different methodologies of RCA and CAPA
- Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
