About the Role

At ABB, we help industries outrun - leaner and cleaner. Here, progress is an expectation - for you, your team, and the world. As a global market leader, we'll give you what you need to make it happen. It won't always be easy, growing takes grit. But at ABB, you'll never run alone. Run what runs the world.

Reports to: Head of R&D and Life Cycle Management

Work model: Hybrid

Business Line: Medium Voltage Drives in Motion Service

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will oversee the global manufacturability, quality, and cost optimization of service products within your scope, with focus on LCI. You will play a key role in shaping product development by aligning with product managers on roadmap execution, defining and prioritizing tasks that reflect business needs. Your technical skills, combined with close collaboration across Motion Service and Motion High Power teams, will be essential in advancing solutions. As a technical partner, you will act as the primary contact for market-facing product management and other stakeholders such as engineering and operations, supporting them on product-related topics and ensuring smooth coordination across functions.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Managing and prioritizing product-related tasks, ensuring smooth execution and delivery. This includes gathering input from various teams, making decisions on minor topics, consulting stakeholders for complex ones, and maintaining all relevant documentation.
  • Overseeing the product lifecycle in alignment with strategic goals, including proactive obsolescence management, assessing the impact of standard changes, and maintaining service-specific tools in collaboration with compliance and portfolio teams.
  • Contributing to service R&D projects and support the transition of service products through their release phases. You'll also help evaluate engineered solutions and collaborate with product management to decide when to productize.
  • Supporting sales and operations by clarifying technical questions, assisting with technical solution agreements (TSAs), and reviewing complex engineered solutions to ensure they align with product strategy and customer needs.

Qualifications

  • A degree in electrical or power engineering, or a similar field such as mechanical engineering (M.Sc. or B.Sc.)
  • 5+ years of experience in the industrial sector, within the power energy field
  • 2-3 years of experience in functionally leading small engineering teams
  • Highly skilled in ABB products, supported by internal training, and possess an understanding of product lifecycle and documentation processes
  • Motivated by collaboration and communication, a team player who is well-organized, with a high sense of responsibility, and a commitment to safety and integrity
  • Fluent in English, and communicating effectively in a multicultural environment; German language skills are a plus
