Channel Sales Manager – Africa (Excitation Systems)

Position Overview
This position reports to the Regional Excitation Sales Manager (ME) based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In this role, you will implement the defined channel sales strategy across the African market, driving ABB's market penetration and supporting the company's growth ambitions within the Unitrol 1000, Synchrotact, and Excitation Systems product portfolio. Each day, you will execute channel-focused sales initiatives to achieve qualitative and quantitative targets—orders, revenue, growth, margin, market share, sales productivity, and customer satisfaction—while maintaining a strong emphasis on profitable business development.
You will act as a critical contributor to the expansion of ABB's channel customer base by identifying, onboarding, developing, and managing high-value channel partners who can effectively serve the market's key white spaces across products, geographies, industry segments, and applications.

Main Stakeholders: Channel partners across Africa, ABB's local Business Line teams, Feeder Factories, Local Excitation Centers of Excellence, key customers, and internal Marketing & Sales teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Implementing the agreed channel sales strategy across Africa within the approved budget to drive growth for Unitrol 1000, Synchrotact, and Excitation Systems
- Identifying, onboarding, and ramping up new channel partners to effectively address product, geographic, industry, and application white spaces
- Creating offers and proposals for channel partners in alignment with broader sales strategies, pricing guidelines, and margin expectations
- Training and supporting channel partners with product, application, and ABB process knowledge to enable independent sales and support capabilities
- Managing quarterly order targets and contributing to achieving key KPIs including orders, revenue, margins, growth, and market share
- Coordinating technical support for partners and customers with Feeder Factories and Local Excitation COEs
- Reporting progress on channel strategies, plans, budgets, and business development activities
- Analyzing channel activity, identifying issues, and taking full ownership for solving problems as they arise
Qualifications
- Experienced in channel sales and enjoy working with indirect sales models in the power systems and electrical equipment sector
- 5+ years of experience in sales or business development, ideally with excitation systems or related industrial products
- Confident working with CRM tools, sales platforms, and basic technical documentation
- Comfortable training and supporting partners on products, applications, and basic ABB processes
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related technical field
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Fluent in English; French and Arabic is a strong advantage
- Willing to travel across Africa and work independently in a dynamic sales environment
