About the Role
In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead internal communications and manage media relations to enhance ABB's brand in the country. Each day, you will handle business media interactions and crisis situations to protect ABB's reputation. You will also showcase your expertise by driving positive branding initiatives and fostering relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to strengthen ABB's visibility.
Communications is a crucial function to our success at ABB. As country communication specialist, you will support communications of key internally and externally global and country news, interface with Tier 1 & business media, support events and be active in internal and external digital media platforms. In your business partner role, you will support the business by generating leads via advertising, sponsorship, and other promotional activities, using online platforms as a hub for integrated marketing communications. You maintain a strong and positive collaboration with internal and external communication communities to promote knowledge of current practices and innovation.
Responsibilities
Country Communications Role (70%)
Media and PR
- Support media relations with Tier 1 and financial publications on behalf of ABB in Japan and in accordance with ABB branding guidelines under the supervision of the Country Communications Manager
- Maintain and update ABB Japan business profile across various service providers
Issues Management and Crisis Communications
- Serve on the country crisis task force as communication
- Edit and publish internal communications content including employee communications and fiduciary requirements locally
- Manage the cascading of key ABB corporate contents in alignment with other functions including legal and integrity, HSE, HR and Security
Digital Communications and Social Media
- Edit and publish, translate as needed content for country social channels, websites, and internal communications channels such as intranet and Viva engage
Administrative Support
- Administer RRs/POs related to country communications
Business Communications Role (Maximum 30%, Three Divisions in Automation – Measurement & Analytics, Process Industries, Marine and Ports)
- Provide support for marketing and communication activities, including developing basic creative concepts in line with ABB branding guidelines
- Produce simple promotional materials, assisting with sales literature
- Support business presence at selected trade fairs and events as needed
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Strong command of the Japanese language, including advanced vocabulary, expressive ability, and reading comprehension
- High proficiency in Japanese writing (for creating media articles and press releases)
- 3-5 years of practical experience in marketing or corporate communications within the industrial sector
- Aptitude to learn software programs – including, but not limited to, Sitefinity, Adobe Creative Suite, Indesign, Apsis One, Pardot, etc
- Bachelor's degree
- JLPT N1 level or above in Japanese language and Business-level English proficiency
- The ability to understand and actively speak/contribute during global meetings and discussions is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in web marketing and web catalog creation
- Pro-active attitude, self-starter and enthusiastic collaborative spirit with high sense of cultural and emotional intelligence
- Proficiency with design software such as Adobe In Design and video content creation
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
