This Position reports to: NAM R&D Team Leader
As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your skills by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.
The work model for the role is onsite/hybrid in Bloomfield, CT.
Responsibilities
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Collaborating with various teams to support ABB's operations, ensuring effective coordination and timely project completion within the defined timelines
- Leveraging insights about customer needs and ABB's offerings to identify suitable solutions for clients, leading to project results that meet customer expectations
- Participating in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and other collaborative efforts
- Seeking feedback and guidance from manager and team members to improve performance and skills
- Learning, creating and maintaining User stories in Azure devops with supporting technical documentation for all design work and presenting material for technical reviews including but not limited to tolerance loops, drawings, bill of materials, product cost, problem and action lists, risk management, and failure root cause analysis reviews in an Agile environment
- Learning and executing designs with solid modeling software (PTC Creo / Windchill) to create models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and BOMs for designs which may include plastic, stamped metal, and electrically conductive parts
- Preparing and maintaining product documentation, instruction manuals, project notebooks, design and test documentation and learning Regulatory standards UL, CSA and NEC
- Actively participating in design reviews, analyzing concepts, and cost effectiveness of the Mechanical/Electrical designs
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field, in the United States
- Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future
- Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions
- Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Exhibit the capability to manage several tasks at once while maintaining high standards of quality
- Collaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress

Compensation & Benefits
Internships at ABB within the United States are not eligible for company-sponsored medical benefits, 401(k) contributions, or paid time off. The hourly rate is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications, graduation year and experience. This position is expected to pay between $20 - $34 per hour.
