Position Overview
Reports to: Service Manager
Represents ABB as Home Based, Field Service Engineer in the North East of England on customer paper manufacturing facilities, with the primary client being based in Prudhoe.
Key Responsibilities
- As part of the Northern Service Team provide 24/7 support on site for ABB QCS equipment
- After initial ABB product training, deliver the Service Agreement to scope, with activities including:
- Preventative and Corrective maintenance on ABB QCS/DCS equipment
- Configuration, calibration, modification, cleaning, adjustment
- Participate in a 1 week in 3 on Call Rota
- Develop a strong working relationship with customer across production and engineering
- Provide high level field and in house technical support, including out of hours support
- Fulfil Service Agreement obligations, demonstrated by the use of ABB Service Pro and other reporting tools
- Provide application support and software troubleshooting to customers, on site and by remote dial in
- Advise clients as to maintenance procedures, evolution, site planning, operational methods, process measurement and control
- Demonstrate flexibility to travel to sites anywhere in the UK for above activities in addition to primary areas of responsibility
- Prepare and write technical reports for internal and external use

Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum HNC in Electrical or Measurement & Control Engineering
- Clean Driving License (UK)
- Self-Motivated and able to work unsupervised
- Demonstrate excellent customer focus
- Good networking skills
- Results orientation
Desirable
- Knowledge of Paper Industry
- Knowledge of ABB QCS systems
- Commercial awareness

About the Process Industries Division
The Process Industries Division serves the mining, minerals processing, metals, cement, pulp and paper, battery manufacturing, and food and beverage, as well as their associated service industries. The Division brings deep industry domain expertise coupled with the ability to integrate both automation and electrical systems, increase productivity and reduce overall capital and operating costs for customers.
For mining, metals and cement customers, solutions include specialized products and services, as well as total production systems. The Division designs, plans, engineers, supplies, installs and commissions integrated electrical and motion systems, including electric equipment, drives, motors, high power rectifiers and equipment for automation and supervisory control within a variety of areas including mineral handling, mining operations, aluminum smelting, hot and cold steel applications and cement production.
The offering for the pulp and paper industries includes control systems, quality control systems, drive systems, on-line sensors, actuators and field instruments. Digitalization solutions, including collaborative operations and augmented reality, help improve plant and enterprise productivity, and reduce maintenance and energy costs.
