Job Description: ICSS Engineering Technical Lead

This Position reports to: Automation Engineering Manager

This role is contributing to Offshore Solutions Business within the Process Automation Energy Industries Division and is based in Johor Baharu, Malaysia. The role offers a flexible work model: Hybrid #, Onsite

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as technical lead for all ICSS related engineering activities for offshore projects of low to medium complexity. You will be responsible for ensuring that the activities related to engineering disciplines within the project are executed in an efficient and cost-effective manner, in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards. You shall demonstrate your expertise by applying basic design thinking / design for excellence concepts into project execution for better project outcomes and to drive continuous improvements.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Lead the ICSS engineering scope across all project phases – FEED, basic engineering, detailed engineering, FAT, pre-commissioning, commissioning and SAT at yards and offshore sites.
  • Act as subject matter expert for all automation systems including – DCS, ESD, F&G and co-ordinate with teams both in-house and at the execution center in the region.
  • Design and Implement communication networks using industrial communication protocols (Modbus, OPC, Profibus, Ethernet/IP) and cybersecurity standards (ISA/IEC 62443) for securing automation networks.
  • Interface with vendors, EPC contractors, client, and internal stakeholders to ensure system integration and functional compliance in line with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure on-time delivery, adherence to project schedule and budget, and fulfilment of contractual obligations

Qualifications for the Role

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or technology with a major in Electrical or Electronics with 7-12 years of experience in similar role
  • TUV certified for functional safety (IEC 61511)
  • Proven hands-on experience in Automation projects across Oil & Gas or power industries.
  • Proven experience with any of the major ICSS platforms including architecture design, configuration, and integration.
  • Experience with ABB 800xA system including system installation & setup, active directory configuration, history configuration etc. will be an added advantage.
  • Enjoy working in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Self-motivated individual with strong English communication skills, eager to build lasting relationships with customers and global stakeholders.
