Position Overview
Reports to: Chapter Leader

Location: Bangalore, India (Hybrid)
Team: Critical Power, ELSP
About the Role
Part of the Critical Power team, you will work in ELSP in Bangalore, India, creating and evaluating the design of equipment, systems or installations, including specifications for manufacturing, fabrication or construction. In this role you will utilize your extensive skills and technical expertise to generate mechanical design project requirements, design and test to meet those requirements, document your design, and participate in cost reduction and coordination with other technical teams in Critical Power, ELSP.
Main stakeholders are LPGs in Richmond, USA, Quartino, Switzerland, and Napier, New Zealand.
Responsibilities
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Overseeing the mechanical design deliverables (design and documentation) required for the development of new or enhanced models of power protection equipment including Static Transfer Switches, Power Distribution Equipment, and UPS
- Working with others cross-functionally to deliver designs in a timely manner with high-quality deliverables that meet customer expectations and project requirements
- Contributing to design reviews and verification following the established design review process, providing feedback on designs and making modifications
- Designing and releasing mechanical prototypes, supporting the fabrication of those prototypes, and leading the improvement process following prototype fabrication
- Leading small projects independently, taking responsibility for organizing all engineering efforts to meet the requirements of the project
- Guiding and mentoring designers in converting conceptual designs into engineering documentation and in maintaining existing products
- Working with all areas of the business (production, supply chain, service, etc.) to ensure products being developed or enhanced meet the needs of the entire business
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in design and execution, working as a mechanical design engineer
- Sound knowledge of power protection equipment and the datacenter and light industrial market, as well as interpreting and applying industry standards (UL/CSA/NEMA, etc.) as they apply to our product offering
- Knowledge of solid modeling CAD design software (Solidworks, Creo etc.) and PLM software
- Knowledge of sheet metal design, detail part drawings, assembly drawings, and design for manufacturing in all the above
- Initiative, creativity and great attention to detail
- A collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
