Position reports to: Local Division Manager
As a Sales Specialist, you will be responsible for marketing, sales, and business development in IEC Low Voltage Motors, Japan. You will ensure comprehensive understanding of local market and competitive environment and support local business management team in identification and realization of business opportunities in line with global strategies, resulting in contribution to maximizing sales volume, profitability, and ABB brand value for assigned business.
Reporting to Sales Manager, you will identify and develop business opportunities in line with global division strategy.
Work model: Hybrid
This role is contributing to the Motion in Japan.
Responsibilities
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Conduct regular visits and meetings with existing clients, such as petrochemical and plant manufacturers, to identify their needs and provide proposals for additional services or equipment replacement
- Execute strategic proactive sales to untapped industries, such as power and utilities, by identifying target prospects and developing tailored approaches
- Monitor competitor pricing and trends from Japanese, Chinese, Indian, and Brazilian manufacturers to analyze and identify winning strategies within the Japanese market
- Gather local market needs and trends, communicating them in English (via email, etc.) to overseas manufacturing and strategic hubs to advocate for enhanced product development and support systems
- Assess motor market sizes across various industry segments and formulate/execute business strategies—including target market selection and concrete action plans—based on required specifications and competitive intelligence
- Verify technical specifications required by customers and prepare accurate quotations, drawings, and necessary documentation
- Coordinate with internal technical departments, logistics, and overseas factories from order to delivery to manage lead times and resolve any issues
- Build and maintain robust customer relationships, including post-delivery follow-up, to enhance the value and reputation of the ABB brand
Qualifications
Mandatory:
- JLPT N1 level or above in Japanese language and Business-level English proficiency. Daily conversational level acceptable. Fluency at the time of joining is not required (however, candidates must be comfortable with reading and writing and possess a strong willingness to learn through overseas training and practical work experience after joining)
- Experience in B2B (Corporate) Sales (approximately 3+ years) Excluding consumer goods
Preferred:
- Engineering background (knowledge of engineering)
- Experience in sales of industrial equipment (motors, drives, electrical products, etc.) or working at a major Japanese corporation
