Position Overview
Reports to: Molding Production Manager
Job Summary
Lead the mold setup function to plan, execute, and continuously improve safe, fast, and right-first-time mold changeovers on molding presses. Coordinate the setup team, maintain mold health and readiness, and support production targets through schedule adherence, quality, and effective communication.
Key Accountabilities
- Safe, right-first-time mold changeovers (LOTO, rigging, crane use)
- On-time schedule execution and press uptime
- Mold care, preventive maintenance, and readiness status
- Team leadership, training, and shift coverage
- Continuous improvement (SMED, standard work, 5S)
- Clear communication with Production, Maintenance, Tooling, and Materials
Core Responsibilities
- Plan the daily/shift setup schedule and stage molds, tooling, and materials
- Lead huddles; assign tasks; verify completion and handoff to production
- Remove/install molds with proper alignment and torque; follow LOTO and safe rigging/crane practices
- Run trial/splash parts and first-article verification with Quality
- Troubleshoot setup issues; escalate and adjust plans as needed
- Maintain mold condition and documentation; coordinate PM/repairs in CMMS/ERP
- Keep setup kits stocked; sustain 5S and visual controls in the setup area
- Update boards/trackers; ensure effective cross-shift handoffs; participate in meetings
Qualifications
- 5+ years in molding/mold setup; 1–2 years leading or mentoring preferred
- Experience with compression, injection, or transfer presses
- Skilled with changeover tools; able to read prints and setup documentation
- Knowledge of LOTO, rigging, overhead crane/forklift (certifications preferred)
- Familiar with ERP/MRP and CMMS; strong communication and problem-solving
Compensation & Schedule
- Hourly Pay Rate: $36–$37 USD/hr (determined by qualifications and experience)
- Labor Hours: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
