Position Overview

Reports to: Production Engineering Manager

Work Model: Onsite

Division: Distribution Solutions in China

About the Role

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the material development and approval of new product projects of switchgear to ensure the process reliability, quality requirements and cost-effectiveness of batch materials.

Responsibilities

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Collaborate closely with R&D, production, quality, and procurement departments to ensure the smooth progress of material development
• Responsible for the design for manufacturability (DFM) of materials, determine the manufacturing process and production process of materials
• Resolve technical issues encountered during material development
• Assess potential risks in the material development process and take response measures
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure material manufacturability and production efficiency
• Cooperate with the quality department to develop the quality control process of the material to ensure that the material meets the quality requirements in the production process
• Organize and establish pre-delivery verification items for materials to ensure compliance with product design requirements
• Analyze material costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction
• Organize and execute the material approval process to ensure materials meet design and quality requirements
• Track the entire material approval process to ensure project timelines are met
• Evaluate suppliers' quality control plans

Qualifications for the Role

Education & Experience

• Bachelor degree or above, major in materials, mechanical or electrical related
• More than 3 years of working experience in material development or related fields, familiar with material development and approval process
• Material development experience in switchgear, machinery, automobile and other industries is preferred

Technical Knowledge

• Familiar with the performance, specifications and applications of commonly used materials
• Familiar with common manufacturing processes (such as injection molding, stamping, machining, etc.), understand their advantages, disadvantages and scope of application
• Familiar with materials performance testing, reliability testing and other methods

Tools & Software

• Solidworks
• PLM/ERP system
• FMEA and quality tools
• DFM/DFA process

Skills & Competencies

• Cost Control: Ability to analyze material costs and propose effective cost control schemes
• Problem Solving: Strong problem analysis and solving ability, able to deal with various challenges in material development and approval process
• Communication & Collaboration: Good communication and cooperation skills, able to work effectively with suppliers and internal departments
• Teamwork: Team player, able to work closely with team members to achieve project goals
• Language: Ability to communicate in English, both written and oral
• Personal Qualities: Highly responsible, self-motivated and willing to take on additional tasks; positive progressive attitude under pressure to work
