Position Overview
Reports to: Portfolio Manager
Work model: Onsite / Hybrid
Location: Heidelberg, Motion Business Area
In this role as Global Product Manager for Industrial PCs (IPC) and I/O, you will shape the strategic direction and the long-term growth of our IPC and I/O portfolio across its entire lifecycle. Collaborating with partners, suppliers, and industrial consortiums, you will play a pivotal role in building a robust product portfolio. Positioned at the intersection of R&D, Sales, Marketing, and product management, you will facilitate innovation, ensure cross-functional collaboration, and contribute to improving our position in delivering reliable and forward-thinking automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading market intelligence analysis and identifying potential gaps in the portfolio, with respect to competition and new market opportunities, while collaborating with partners, suppliers, and industrial consortiums to enable a solid ecosystem.
- Owning technical and market specifications for the offer and determining an offering business plan that supports sustainable growth – including customer need and value analysis, roadmap planning, and ongoing portfolio performance tracking in close alignment with R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Product Management.
- Leading the product lifecycle management process, analyzing current offers, defining and tracking performance metrics, and making decisions on offer obsolescence and end-of-life to ensure that current and future market requirements are met while ensuring sustainable profitability.
- Setting targets, monitoring offering costs, and giving inputs to operations functions (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Production) to enhance competitiveness and profitability, while closely collaborating with key countries to maintain strong alignment with front-end sales, partners, and strategic customers.
Qualifications
- University degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or a related field, combined with a solid technical background in automation technology.
- Extensive experience in product management in the industrial automation sector, including strategy definition, lifecycle management, and go-to-market execution.
- Familiarity with Industrial PCs, I/O systems, and embedded computing solutions, and a good understanding of B2B markets, customer needs, and sales cycles.
- Proficient analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience working closely with R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Operations.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities, with an entrepreneurial and initiative-driven mindset.
- Fluency in English (German is an asset) and willingness to travel up to 25%.
