Your Role and Responsibilities

We are looking for a Project Controller to join our Marine & Ports division team.

Within this division we enable the global transition towards more sustainable and electrified ports. Our team designs and delivers advanced electrical and automation solutions for container terminals worldwide, helping customers operate efficiently, reliably, and safely.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive all financial activities within large and complex projects. You will act as a trusted business partner to the Project Management team and interact closely with stakeholders across the ABB organization.

You will work in a diverse and international team, where collaboration across cultures and disciplines is part of daily life. The role offers substantial autonomy, exposure to challenging project environments, and strong opportunities to further develop yourself as a Project Controller.

Due to the fixed duration of the project, this is a temporary role for a period of three years.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Acting as Project Controller, ensuring financial control throughout the full project lifecycle.

• Performing month-end project closing and reporting activities, including variance analysis and forecast updates.

• Serving as the financial interface between Project Managers and the wider ABB organization, providing clear insights and guidance on financial performance.

• Supporting and controlling the procurement process from a financial perspective, including cost monitoring and alignment with project budgets.

• Identifying, monitoring, and managing project risks and opportunities in close cooperation with the project team.

• Managing and overseeing project invoicing processes to ensure timely and accurate billing in line with contractual terms.

• Preparing and participating in internal project reviews, ensuring financial transparency, compliance, and alignment with ABB governance requirements

Your background

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline, with 2–4 years of relevant work experience.

• Experience in a controlling, finance, or project-related role; experience in project controlling is a plus but not required.

• Solid understanding of financial reporting, forecasting, and project accounting.

• Strong Excel skills are required; experience with SAP is considered a plus.

• Ability to manage financial risks and improve project performance.

• Solid analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Flexible and pragmatic, comfortable working in a changing project environment.

• Analytical and independent, with a proactive mindset

• Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, with the ability to build trusted relationships. Knowledge of Spanish language is a plus.

• Experience working in project-based environments, ideally within engineering or industrial sectors.
