Your role and responsibilities

As part of our strategic growth in Energy Management and electronic products, we are seeking a Quality Specialist to join our team in Vittuone, Italy. The electronic products segment represents a key growth area for ABB, and we are seeking a Quality Specialist with electronics backgrounds to ensure the highest quality standards across our expanding product portfolio. In this role, you will act as reference for Quality Planning activities, supporting product and process quality from the early stages of development through series production. Your understanding of electronic components, PCB assemblies, and related manufacturing processes will be essential to drive quality excellence in our products. You will collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Lab, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and suppliers to ensure that quality requirements are defined, deployed, and met in line with ABB standards and customer expectations. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to ABB's technological advancement in the energy management and electronics sectors.

This role is contributing to the Electrification/Smart Building and reports to Quality Planning Manager. This is a position with global grade 14; we could consider hiring a less experienced candidate (grade 15).

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Lead and coordinate Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities for new products and product changes, ensuring all quality milestones are met on time.
  • Define and manage Control Plans, FMEAs (Design and Process), and quality documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Verify compliance with all quality requirements for Brand Label (buy-from-others) projects, ensuring that suppliers consistently follow established procedures to deliver optimal product quality.
  • Support Design Reviews and Engineering Change Management processes from a quality perspective.
  • Manage non-conformity issues: cooperating closely with other business functions and leading RCA according to DMAIC approach.
  • Lead quality operation on a specific product family: continuous improvement both on process and product, coordinating quality activities in production focused on achieving business target within quality.
  • Interface with customers and suppliers on quality planning topics, supporting audits and quality reviews.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Automation Engineering
  • Experience of 2/3 years in similar roles will be considered a plus; exposure/strong collaboration with external suppliers or partners is a plus
  • Good understanding of electronic products (especially in the segment of accuracy measurement and communication protocols), PCB assemblies, and related manufacturing processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional and international teams.
  • Good knowledge of English, both written and spoken
  • Positive spirit, proactivity, team working, responsiveness, problem-solving mindset.
  • Commitment to deliver results by taking responsibility to execute assigned tasks and projects.

Compensation Package

As part of our commitment to transparency, we want to share the compensation details for this position:

Applicable CBA: Metalmeccanico

Minimum annual salary: 39,000€

Variable Pay: Eligible for Company Productivity Bonus
