The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

Sr. Legal Analyst – will be part of the Global Legal Service Center (GLSC) and perform a variety of data and information management activities under the supervision of 3M Legal Affairs attorneys, managers, and/or supervisors. This position will report to the GLSC Multiple Pillar Work Group Lead and work closely with 3M Legal Affairs paralegals. The Sr. Legal Analyst is an experienced e Discovery professional with foundational knowledge of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model and the collection of electronically stored data for preservation and review.

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of 3M Legal Affairs attorneys and paralegals, the Sr. Legal Analyst will perform tasks related to gathering, organizing, administering, and/or managing information and databases for litigation, investigations, or early case assessment. These responsibilities may include:

• Data Management – Collects and analyzes data for litigation preservation and review and interfaces with outside review vendors as needed. Assists in the preparation of project plans to manage data that may include cost estimates, timelines, and resources to meet project deliverables. Organizes data and performs analysis to ensure legal requirements are met. Develops knowledge of policies, regulations, and trends related to information management in the legal environment. Initiates requests, inquiries, and follow-up with clients and/or vendors. Performs basic analysis to identify efficient information management methods and tools. Designs and provides reports and summaries based on clients’ needs.
• Database Management. Serves on teams that evaluate database tools and makes recommendations for system design and enhancements. Responsible for database integrity by reviewing data and resolving discrepancies. Recommends process improvements and technology options for managing information. Troubleshoots, evaluates, tests, and assists in implementation of upgrades and updates to database(s). Provides documentation for user and training manuals.
• Collaboration and Communication. Establishes and maintains relationships with attorneys, employees, outside counsel, and vendors. Responds to routine inquiries and requests from clients. May participate in special projects.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

• Possess a bachelor’s degree in law with high academic credentials from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in legal analyst or e Discovery roles, preferably in similar MNCs, Law firms, or Global Capability Centers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Purview and Nuix Discover.
• Basic knowledge of legal concepts and terminology in litigation, especially as they relate to e Discovery tasks.
• Knowledge of databases and corporate systems relevant to e Discovery.
• Strong organizational skills; ability to establish priorities, balance multiple tasks and deadlines at one time and effectively manage competing priorities.
• Effective interpersonal skills and a collaborative team player, including the ability to communicate in written and spoke English.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include

• Any additional e Discovery or data management course certification
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel
• Familiarity with AI / Gen AI tools as they relate to e Discovery
