Job Description:

SUMMARY:

The person hired for this position will primarily be responsible for managing the process Engineering activities (Consumer & Industrial Business Groups).

He/She will be responsible for scaling up a process from a design to actual scale, working with operations and/or technical teams to design and implement safe and sustainable manufacturing system.

Process Engineer uses engineering knowledge and skills as a driver of change management with the involvement of cross functional teams to achieve cost benefits.

Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Product qualification as per APQP.
• Out to In/Localization and other LSS Projects
• New Product Introduction with help of R&D team.
• Building Technical Platforms for Automation and Productivity Improvement.
• Optimization of production processes (batch times, raw materials, utilities).
• Creator and Guardian to SOP and other critical process documentations. Custodian to the plant process document database.
• Creating BOM and review unit cost and other financial information.
• Initiate production process modification with Change Management process, justifying investment under coordination with mechanical and E/I engineers.
• Technical and Analytical problem solving.
• Protect 3M intellectual property.
• Communicate effectively to project team, facility staff and project stakeholders.
• Promote a “team” environment in achieving departmental objectives regarding safety, quality, cost and delivery performance.
• Develop continuous improvement of Information Flow, Material Flow, and Work Productivity with-in the Plant. Assist in the reduction of all forms of waste.
• Provide training and documentation support to assigned department. Train employees per Supervisor direction on various “hands-on and process technology” training needs.
• Support QC team, in successfully deploying & sustaining QMS system in the assigned value streams.

Basic Qualifications:

• BE / ME degree with Mechanical/Chemical background.
• 10 - 12 years of Experience in Manufacturing Environment

Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a track record of building effective working alliances with business partners. Influences and gains consensus in a matrix organizational environment. Possesses business acumen proficiency to understand the capital investment strategic or operational plan’s financial implications to business client(s).

Must be self-motivated, demonstrate leadership skills and be able to work productively in a self-directed atmosphere. Good interpersonal skills necessary to facilitate training. Willing to learn and open to new ideas/concepts.

Expert/master knowledge and experience with the most current theories and practices in one or more related professional disciplines. In addition, likely to have broad knowledge of multiple related disciplines. Comprehensive knowledge of 3M’s global strategy, business areas, structure and organization, as well as of the external market (competitors, trends, etc.).

Knowledge of computer programs and corporate systems relevant to the assigned area of responsibility is normally required.
