About the Role
We have an outstanding opportunity for an experienced, multi-faceted attorney to join Uber's Autonomous Mobility & Delivery legal team as we develop the world's best platform for autonomous vehicles to go to market. If you're passionate about solving novel problems, creating industry-first products, and transforming the way that people go anywhere and get (almost) anything, come and join this bold team as we scale Uber's AV offerings.
This Counsel will own and support a wide range of product counseling initiatives that govern AV deployments across mobility and delivery use cases, US and international markets, integrating safety, data sharing, fleet management, intellectual property, regulatory and privacy principles. You'll also provide counseling on related commercial operations, working closely with cross functional business teams to launch autonomous vehicles across the Uber platform.
What You'll Do:
- Lead legal reviews and coordinate product decisions across global marketplaces related to delivery and mobility services provided by autonomous vehicles and sidewalk robots, positioning these products and features to reduce risk from the early stages of product development through launch
- Be a catalyst, collaborate closely with colleagues on other legal and cross-functional teams, such as Fleets, Marketing, Support, Safety, Product, Insurance and Privacy to provide comprehensive advice and create solutions that allow the business to move quickly and responsibly
- Be an active and trusted business partner to the collaborative operations professionals that launch autonomous services and products at Uber
- Deploy your commercial perspective in reviewing product features, deployment plans and programmatic initiatives to ensure legal, regulatory, safety and risk-mitigation considerations are factored into development requirements, operational decisions and commercial terms with an entire ecosystem of partners
- Be a strong communicator and collaborator on a high-performing, diverse team to achieve our legal and business priorities
- Review terms and conditions, FAQs, marketing and communications documents
- Stay on top of the latest developments in a constantly evolving legal landscape and develop deep expertise in Uber's autonomous mobility and delivery products and partnerships.
Basic Qualifications:
- J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state
- 5+ years of legal experience in private practice, in-house and/or government experience OR Minimum of 4 years in the above, with 1 of those years being internal to Uber
Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with Uber or expertise in the logistics and platform businesses that make up our Go Anywhere-Get Anything portfolio, from Delivery to Sidewalk Robots, and from Mobility to Autonomous Vehicles

Experience with autonomous vehicles, drones, eVTOL, or on-demand mobility or delivery platforms

Strong, team-oriented collaborator, with confidence and flexibility to perform in nimble, rapidly changing and growing environments, as well as build relationships and gain credibility with business and legal partners

Proven ability to manage complex projects and a track record of building new or improving existing programs or processes, preferably in a fast-paced environment

Experience counseling product and engineering teams through the product development lifecycle from conception to launch and advising on the legal and regulatory aspects of product development in a technology company

Excellent drafting, written and verbal communication skills and ability to adapt legal requirements in balanced, creative and pragmatic ways to facilitate clear and open communication at all levels of the organization

Curiosity, along with the ability to spot issues, get to the heart of a matter, and articulate plans to address them

Ability to translate complex legal issues and ambiguity into clear and simple advice, to communicate effectively with non-legal internal colleagues, and to interface with a broad range of senior business managers, executives and other colleagues and professionals across our company

For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp.
