About the Role:

As a Backend Engineer on the Uber Eats Growth team, you will play a critical role in developing and scaling the features that drive the rapid expansion of Uber Eats. Your work will directly impact our efforts to reach new markets and extend our services beyond traditional food delivery to include groceries, retail, and more. In this role, you will blend technical expertise with strategic thinking to create high-quality, scalable solutions that enhance user engagement and contribute to the long-term success of Uber Eats.

What You'll Do- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Product, Design, Ops, and Data Science, to conceptualize, plan, and fully own the development of new features from ideation through to implementation.

• Design and develop a robust, scalable, and maintainable codebase, solving complex problems in web services and distributed systems while adhering to best practices and architectural patterns.
• Participate in code reviews, contribute to the development of engineering best practices, and provide mentorship and coaching to junior engineers.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex issues across multiple systems to ensure stability and performance.
• Build relationships with engineers across teams like Membership, Rider, AI & Messaging to foster collaboration and drive innovation
• Stay up-to-date with new technologies and methodologies related to backend development.
• Run experiments and measure the impact of their work, using data to drive continuous improvements and inform future decisions.

Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field or Software Engineering work experience, which includes+3 year full-time

total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:- Experience coding in a general-purpose programming language (e.g Java, Go)Preferred Qualifications- 3+ years of proven experience in fullstack development

• Experience building reliable services and distributed systems at scale
• Familiarity with Go
• Industry experience creating user interfaces and user experiences
• Industry or academic experience building microservices and crafting APIs
• Passionate about developing applications with a focus on performance and user experience.
• Strong communication skills, experience working with stakeholders including product managers, design and user research

• For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD**$171,000 per year**
• USD**$190,000 per year**.
