Job Details:

The Lead IT Data Modeler takes a leadership role in crafting data models and architectures that meet current business needs and are scalable for future challenges. They provide advanced mentorship to junior and senior data modelers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in data management. This role demands deep expertise in query optimization, execution plans, and complex SQL for large datasets. They are proficient in various database systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server and employ version control systems such as Git to manage changes efficiently. The Lead Data Modeler also integrates data engineering practices like ETL, job orchestration, and monitoring to enhance data transformation processes, ensuring robust data systems that support critical business functions.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proficiency in using and managing relational database systems such as BigQuery, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Knowledge of SQL for querying and manipulating data, including creating, modifying, and optimizing database queries.
  • Proficiency in the fundamentals of data modeling, including entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs), data flow diagrams, and dimensional modeling.
  • Strong documentation skills to maintain clear and up-to-date data model diagrams, schema descriptions, and metadata.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git for tracking changes to data models and related code.
  • Proficient in complex SQL queries, common table expressions, and optimization techniques for managing and querying large datasets.
  • Understanding of data governance principles, data stewardship, and data cataloging.
  • Skill in optimizing database and query performance, including query execution plans, indexing, and caching strategies.
  • Capability to mentor junior data modelers and provide leadership in data modeling initiatives.
  • Ability to design comprehensive data architectures that align with business needs and support long-term data strategies.
  • Expertise in designing data models that cover the entire enterprise, ensuring data consistency and alignment with business processes.
  • Develop and execute data strategies that align with the organization's business objectives and long-term data needs.
  • Mastery of complex data modeling techniques, including handling intricate relationships, multi-dimensional modeling, and advanced normalization.
  • Lead and mentor a team of data modelers, providing guidance, training, and oversight.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for data modeling initiatives, aligning them with the organization's vision.
  • Perform other assigned job-related duties that align with our organization's vision, mission, and values and fall within your scope of practice.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience.
Preferred Certification(s): Any relevant IT Certification.
Experience: 5+ years of relevant and practical experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of SQL, data warehousing, and dimensional modeling.
