Skeletons, lasers, monster trucks — the Torq brand grabs attention like nothing else in cybersecurity. And we’re growing like crazy, with $140M in Series D funding, 200% employee growth, and 300% revenue growth in 2025. Fueling Torq’s growth are our game changing agentic AI security solutions, backed by a team and culture that makes Torq one of Forbes’ Best Startup Employers in America, and a Business Insider ‘startup to bet your career on’.
Life at Torq is all gas, no brakes. We’re a team of relentless, collaborative go-getters pushing the boundaries of what’s possible for security automation. Every role is an essential driver of Torq’s success as the AI-native autonomous Sec Ops platform of choice for security teams across the Fortune 500. Excited about our vision and ready to make an impact as we grow? We’d love to see what you can bring to the team.
We're looking for a proactive and analytical Cloud Fin Ops Engineer to join our team and take ownership of our cloud financial operations. In this role, you'll be the crucial link between our engineering, product, and finance teams, ensuring we build and run our cloud services efficiently and profitably. You won't just be reporting on costs; you'll be a strategic partner who drives financial accountability and intelligence across the organization. You will be working closely with the Chief Architect, VP R&D and the Platform teams.
What You'll Do
-
You'll dive deep into our cloud and SaaS spending data to uncover trends, identify optimization opportunities (like right-sizing, reserved instances, or savings plans), and work directly with engineering teams to implement your recommendations.
-
You will collaborate closely with Product Managers to analyze the underlying costs of customer usage. Your insights will directly shape our pricing models and help evaluate the commercial viability of new features and projects before they're built.
-
You'll establish and maintain our cloud cost governance framework. This includes perfecting our resource tagging strategy, managing cost allocation, and building automated guardrails to prevent budget overruns and wasteful spending.
-
You will build and manage insightful dashboards, reports, and alerts that provide clear visibility into our cloud spend for all stakeholders. When you spot an anomaly or a spike in costs, you'll be the one to investigate and escalate it.
-
You will work with our cloud and SaaS providers to understand their pricing models and discount opportunities. Where appropriate, you'll participate in negotiating contracts to ensure we're always getting the best value.
-
Keep a pulse on the latest industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in the Fin Ops space to ensure we remain efficient and competitive.
Who You Are
-
This role requires prior experience in Fin Ops for a medium-sized organization, either as a team leader or member, with 3+ years of experience leading or being part of a Fin Ops function within an organization.
-
You have a solid understanding of cloud services (AWS, GCP) and the financial implications of different architectural choices. You know what Terraform is and understand modern cloud architectures. Bonus points if you are coming from an engineering/devops background.
-
You don't wait to be told what to do. You actively seek out opportunities for improvement and take ownership of the financial health of our cloud infrastructure.
-
You have a knack for turning complex datasets into actionable insights and clear recommendations. You're comfortable navigating billing consoles and cost explorers.
-
You can confidently partner with engineers, product managers, and leadership to explain financial concepts and drive change.
-
You thrive in a team environment and understand that the best results come from working together to mediate technical priorities and achieve shared goals.
