- Sail Point is seeking a Backend Software Engineer with a strong API(REST/GraphQL) development/design background with a flair for programming in java (and Go desired) with a demonstrated history of learning, passionate about building and delivering reliable, scalable, observable microservices for enterprise-grade, multi-tenant SaaS products. The position will be part of Identity Security Cloud Business Services group that develops governance features
- Access Certifications, Access Request & Approvals, Password Management and Separation of Duties to connect and centrally control access to every application. As part of this team, we are defining the API management strategy for the range of SaaS products, and bring uniformity to the API creation across all teams, adopting diverse cloud-native technologies (persistence, messaging, analytical processing – to name a few) and enabling the product to scale seamlessly while providing a performant user experience. You'll work with teams that are passionate about continuous improvement and agility in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities

Drive the planning, design, construction, and reviewing the construction of APIs.
-
Drive the design, implementation, and deployment of efficient, maintainable, robust microservices to deliver medium-to-high complexity features.
-
As a member of the API strategy team, you will collaborate with the services team and help your stakeholders follow the organization's strategy for designing, building, and maintaining APIs.
-
Produce designs and rough estimates, and implement features based on product requirements.
-
Collaborate with peers on designs, code reviews, and testing.
-
Produce unit and end-to-end tests to improve code quality and maximize code coverage for new and existing features.
Requirements
-
6 years of professional software development experience with a demonstrated record of increasing responsibilities.
-
5 years of experience in developing server-side, object-oriented programming in Java, Spring Boot, and associated frameworks.
-
Experience in designing, implementing RESTful/GraphQL APIs for an API-first application architecture.
-
Experience using cloud-native technologies from AWS/other cloud providers.
-
Experience developing microservices in multi-tenant SaaS application.
-
Experience using SQL/NoSQL, EKS, Kafka, Redis
-
Experience using monitoring, alerting, visualization tools like Prometheus, Grafana
-
Experience working with remote teams
-
Great communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills

Professional experience in design/implementation of event-driven architecture.

Experience writing software applications in Go
What success looks like in the role Within the first 30 days you will:
-
Onboard into your new role, get familiar with our product offering and technology, proactively meet peers and stakeholders, set up your development environment.
-
Seek to deeply understand business problems or common engineering challenges and develop feature and unit test it.
By 90 days:
-
Proactively implement different enhancements, defect fixes by interacting independently with different (sometimes many) stakeholders, architects and members of your team.
-
Take a committed approach to contributing to different projects development alongside less experienced engineers on your team—there’s no room for ivory towers here.
-
Is able to provide 12x7 on-call support during their day.
By 6 months:
-
Collaborates with Product Management and Engineering Manager to estimate and develop small to medium complexity features more independently.
-
Lead projects with small group of 3-4 members. Participate in resource planning, backlog refinement activity.
-
Occasionally serve as an analysis expert during escalations of systems issues that have evaded the ability of less experienced engineers to solve in a timely manner.

Share support of critical team systems by participating in calls with customers, learning the characteristics of currently running systems, and participating in improvements.
