Toast is looking for a seasoned Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to drive and enhance the efficiency, execution, and cross-functional alignment of complex R&D initiatives. As a TPM, you will play a pivotal role in shaping program strategies, establishing best practices, and delivering high-impact programs that align with our product and business technology objectives. This role demands a blend of strategic vision, technical expertise, and hands-on program management, empowering teams to deliver on Toast’s ambitious roadmap.
A day in the life (Responsibilities)

Execution Excellence: Drive execution for major cross-functional programs, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery. Employ advanced forecasting, risk management, and intake strategies to mitigate potential delays and dependencies.

Diving Deep: Quickly understand the scope, requirements, and risks associated with new and existing programs. Be ready to dive deep into technical and operational details, rapidly get up to speed, and identify and mitigate potential risks to ensure smooth program execution; all while being able to keep the big picture in mind.

Stakeholder Partnership: Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders across R&D, Product, and Engineering, including senior leadership, collaborating on feature planning and resource allocation to ensure strategic alignment and operational efficiency.

Adaptable: Able to work “the Toast way” and to adapt to change and iterate quickly; comfortable recalibrating plans, processes, and stakeholder expectations in complex and ambiguous environments

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)

7+ years of experience in technical program management and working with product/feature teams, with a proven record of managing and delivering complex cross-functional programs in a tech-driven environment.

Deep background in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and strong technical fluency.

Demonstrated ability to build strategic frameworks and standardize processes for high-impact delivery across multiple programs.

Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with a history of effectively collaborating with technical and non-technical partners.

Results-oriented with a strategic mindset; proven ability to drive multiple programs to successful completion with a sense of urgency.

Strong problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to make data-driven decisions and communicate insights clearly.
