DESCRIPTION:

As a Material Handler I at our Heysham site, you will play a crucial role in our Avocado Research Chemicals Ltd division, supporting our Laboratory Chemicals Division (LCD) operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Receive and unpack goods, accurately booking them in via the JD Edwards computer system.

  • Perform a range of JDE transactions relevant to your specific role.

  • Locate bulk/pre-packs to relevant hazard warehouses.

  • Pick stock for repack orders from onsite warehouses and return bulk returns to accurate store locations.

  • Conduct cycle counts as per work instructions.

  • Investigate and resolve Not on Location (NOL) missing items.

  • Pick UK and Export Shipments using provided Pick Lists, reporting any unacceptable items.

  • Follow all Packing and Labeling Instructions precisely to align with Transport Regulations.

  • Participate in the collation of Export Shipments, ensuring accurate loading and completion of all paperwork.

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of Third-Party Systems, such as Courier services and MSDS.

  • Handle fine chemicals in bulk quantities or prepacks in accordance with CEM (Chemical Exposure Management) regulations.

  • Follow simple instructions without deviation.

  • Maintain good stock levels of all required consumables and understand requisition procedures.

  • Operate equipment for which you have completed relevant training, reporting any defective equipment or issues to an Operations Team Leader or Manager.

  • Maintain up-to-date records and paperwork necessary for the role.

  • Ensure full compliance with site Security policies.

  • Conform with environmental and quality policies, procedures, and requirements of the EMS and QMS.

  • Conduct daily duties according to current procedures and appropriate Health and Safety precautions.

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing activities on site.

  • Carry out other duties within your skills and abilities as reasonably guided.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • High School Diploma, Secondary Education, Advanced Certificate, or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Required: No previous work experience required

  • Preferred: Experience in distribution, warehouse or supply chain or related field

  • Preferred: Experience with powered industrial trucks (order pickers/forklifts)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to accurately use computer systems, particularly JD Edwards

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Basic understanding of warehouse operations and inventory management

  • Ability to follow safety procedures and regulations

  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

  • Physical ability to lift, move, and handle materials as required by the job

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods

  • Capable of lifting and moving items up to 50 lbs (or as per local regulations)

  • Work in a warehouse environment with exposure to various chemicals

  • May require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Potential exposure to temperature variations in different warehouse areas
