Executive Protection Manager – Global Physical Security

Job Description

As a protection manager you will lead the development, implementation, coordination, and oversight of securing Thermo Fisher Scientific's leadership. This position will have the opportunity to continue building a program that aligns with Thermo Fisher Scientific’s vision of a healthier, cleaner, and safer world.

You will collaborate and mitigate risk with Sr. Manager of Global Security by implementing policies and procedures, while evaluating threat base activities.

You will build and lead an executive protection training program to maintain high-quality skills and capabilities.

Do you like to travel globally? Even though this position is based in Waltham, MA, it will require global travel.

You will need the skills to:

  • Effectively work in a cross-functional capacity and collaborate with various team members.
  • Identify gaps and risks in the threat stream and build action/mitigation plans as required.
  • Handle risk assessment and mitigation of threats and acts of violence both in traditional and virtual environments in real time.
  • Develop global security policies, standards, procedures, training, and awareness programs for a diverse and globally dispersed employee population.
  • Investigate and review security violations, crises, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and coordinate appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Liaison with external industry resources (e.g. law enforcement, military, emergency responders, industry peers & associations, etc.) as well as, vendors to increase options to supplement security.
  • Develop travel security protocols and training for high-risk travel destinations.
  • Assist in the design of the protection program using a risk-based, data-driven methodology.
  • Select and leverage tools to ensure persistent threat monitoring to identify and investigate threats.
  • Ensure the entire team demonstrates the highest level of integrity, discretion, and decision-making.
  • Travel to and conduct detailed protective advance assessments ahead of the executive to ensure preparedness and smooth operations on the ground (domestic and internationally).
  • Drive the executives to and from designated locations by using pre-advanced routes, ensuring secure and efficient travel.
  • Develop and further positive relationships with legal, finance, and executive admin collaborators.
  • Develop programmatic goals with quantifiable metrics to assess program health and measure improvement.
  • Work closely with the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) to receive real-time intelligence, assess emerging threats, and coordinate security measures. Ensure the executive’s safety is continuously evaluated, and any identified risks are addressed promptly through proactive action and intelligence sharing.
  • Collaborate with the Executive IT team to maintain executive technology setups securely.

Qualifications (required)

  • Confirmed experience with over 10 years in security, risk management, travel security, workplace violence management, event security, executive protection support.
  • Must have a good understanding of Duty of Care laws and concepts.
  • Protective Intelligence investigative skills.
  • Strong defensive driving skills and ability to operate large, luxury/specialty vehicles.
  • Understanding standard methodologies in cybersecurity.

Qualifications (preferred)

  • Prior law enforcement and corporate security experience.
  • Vendor management experience.
  • Knowledge and certification in the areas of threat assessment methodology.
  • Technical troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, networking, and security domains.
  • Possession or ability to acquire LEOSA HR 218 authorization.
  • Certification in CPR or EMT or can acquire.

Education

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Information Systems, Security Management, or related field is strongly preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited Law Enforcement Academy preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $92,900.00–$139,325.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
