What To Expect
Consider before submitting an application:

This position is expected to start May 2026 and continue through summer term (ending approximately August 2026 or later, if available). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

The Product Management Intern – Powerwall will be a key member of the Residential Energy Products team that is responsible for delivering innovative products and features to support Tesla’s residential energy business. This role will be focused on defining and launching software features and functionalities needed to scale our product line, including Powerwall, Solar Inverter, and Wall Connector. Additionally, they will contribute towards the scoping and development of the next generation of products to support Tesla’s residential energy business.

This is a multi-faceted role where flexibility to apply your skills to a variety of projects and changing product needs is a must. The ability to understand customer and market desires, combined with a solid technical foundation is expected. This role will define and execute features that maximize the value of the home energy ecosystem and communicate this value in a customer-focused way. Members of our team display a rock-solid work ethic, team- oriented personality, creativity, passion, and a desire to lead the adoption of renewable energy storage at scale.

What You'll Do

  • Collect market information from customers and global sales teams to understand customer needs
  • Perform technical analysis to understand product requirements
  • Prepare internal and external documents for product features
  • Organize and lead internal demos of product features
  • Derive actionable insights from Tesla datasets to create compelling product marketing materials
  • Work with Program and Product Managers to track progress/highlight risks to program and roadmap


  • What You'll Bring

  • Pursuing a Degree in Engineering, Data Science, Business, or related field
  • Blend of technical skills, business acumen, and customer empathy to effectively bridge the gap between user needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Creative thinker with a customer-focused mindset
  • Exceptional communication and documentation skills 
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Excel to perform modeling and analytical studies 
  • Deep passion for energy and accelerating the energy transition 
  • Experience with market research and user surveys
  • Knowledge of UX principles and experience collaborating with designers on wireframes and mockups
  • Knowledge of Solar and/or Battery Systems
  • Familiarity or interest in Internet of Things (IoT) and smart home technologies
  • Experience in software development, electrical engineering, and/or residential electrical systems

  • Expected Compensation

    $20.00 - $50.00/hour + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
