Summary:
This Java Developer position at State Street focuses on maintaining and enhancing a global FX trading system. The role requires expertise in Java development, Oracle Database management, and Bash scripting while working in an Agile environment with a distributed global team. The ideal candidate will contribute to mission-critical financial infrastructure, handling high-volume foreign exchange transactions and collaborating across time zones to deliver robust, scalable solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a global team of developers across multiple time zones to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level Java applications
- Work within an Agile development environment, participating in sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives
- Develop and optimize backend services using Java and related technologies
- Write and maintain Bash scripts for deployment and system maintenance tasks
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments
- Ensure application performance, security, and scalability
- Demonstrate more independence of design and development
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience with full lifecycle of project development for Java applications.
- B.S. degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or other technical course of study required. MS degree strongly preferred.
- Excellent English Reading and written skills
- Strong proficiency in Java (Java 17 or higher)
- Experience with Oracle Database including SQL, PL/SQL, and performance optimization
- Proficiency in Bash scripting for deployment
- Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Nice to have:
- Experience Frontend technologies like React
- Excellent English verbal skills
- Understanding of messaging systems (Kafka, JMS)
