Overview
This role is at Spirit Aero Systems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit’s Defense Business Unit (“Spirit Defense”). Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace. Through innovative engineering and rapid prototyping excellence, Spirit Defense provides the capabilities, technologies and support customers need to succeed in their missions.
Responsibilities
Position Responsibilities:
- Apply knowledge of systems engineering and physical science principles in order to analyze and forecast the weight, balance, and mass properties of aerospace vehicles
- Apply knowledge of physical properties of engineering materials, actual weighing techniques, and standard sections in order to optimize weights design criteria and mission performance
- Ability to estimate, calculate, accurately measure, and verify mass, weight, and stiffness of components and assemblies
- Ability to generate weight reports, weights accounting, and support system weight design optimization
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 7+ years working as an engineer in a related field
- Mass Properties experience
- Experience with 3D solid modeling software applications (e.g. NX, Catia, CADD)
- Experience with three-dimensional parametric modeling using NX/Teamcenter or CATIA/ENOVIA methods and tools
- Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 10+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

Summary Pay Range: $115,750 - $177,500

Security Clearance
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
