Position Overview

We're hiring a Lead UX Designer to own design systems for Salesforce Commerce Cloud storefront experiences. This role combines UX expertise with technical design systems knowledge to create scalable, consistent e-commerce experiences. You'll lead the design and implementation of Commerce Cloud's design system while working closely with engineering teams to build inclusive and accessible experiences for online shopping.

Key Responsibilities: Design Systems & Technical Collaboration

  • Define, create, and maintain the Commerce Cloud design system in Figma, including components, patterns, design tokens, and storefront-specific elements
  • Work closely with front-end engineers to translate design system components into production-ready code
  • Collaborate on technical implementation decisions, leveraging understanding of front-end development constraints and opportunities
  • Establish design system governance standards and oversee the roadmap for features and updates

Cross-Functional Partnership & Communication

  • Serve as a bridge connecting design, product, engineering, and commerce platform teams
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for the design system, including usage guidelines and implementation best practices
  • Provide training and support to teams adopting the design system
  • Collaborate with user research teams to validate design decisions and iterate on commerce-specific user needs

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor design team members on design systems thinking and best practices
  • Foster systematic design thinking across the Commerce Cloud organization
  • Advocate for accessibility and inclusive design, encouraging prioritization of accessible features

Required Qualifications: Experience

  • 7+ years designing and delivering digital products as part of cross-functional teams
  • 3+ years of specific experience with design systems creation, implementation, and governance

Technical Skills

  • Expert knowledge of Figma, including advanced component creation, auto-layout, variants, and design token management
  • Strong understanding of front-end development principles (HTML, CSS, JavaScript fundamentals)
  • Experience with design system governance, documentation tools, and version control

Design & Leadership

  • Deep understanding of user-centered design methods and best practices
  • Demonstrated leadership behaviors that inspire teams and build trust with stakeholders
  • Strong communication and active listening skills
  • Experience using analytics and user research to drive design decisions

What You'll Work On

  • Commerce Cloud storefront component libraries and design patterns
  • Checkout flows, product catalog experiences, and shopping cart interfaces
  • Mobile-responsive design systems for commerce applications
  • Accessibility standards implementation across all commerce touchpoints
  • Performance-optimized design solutions for high-traffic e-commerce sites
  • Global design patterns that work across markets and languages

At Salesforce, you'll work on design systems that power commerce experiences used by millions of shoppers worldwide. You'll make merchants more successful, shoppers' experiences more delightful, and developers' implementations more efficient.
