The Avionics Test Engineering organization is a global engineering organization responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of automated manufacturing test solutions in support of the $5B Avionics strategic business unit as well as external customers including armed services and airlines both domestic and international.

The Senior Systems Engineer performs analysis at all levels of the total test solution including concept, design, build, verification & validation, deployment, operation, maintenance and disposal. Supports technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for test systems. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Decomposes customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system requirements and generates verification criteria and plans for the requirements. Supports configuration process, performs functional analysis, timing analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

What You Will Do:

  • Support certification compliance with the EU health, safety, and environmental standards (CE Mark) and Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) by capturing requirements, performing analysis and testing.
  • Participate in program planning and risk management both technical and programmatic from bid to deployment phase
  • Develop Test Systems requirements and validation procedures; provide technical solution for building the Test Solutions as per the requirements
  • Collaborate with both project teams and external end users/customers
  • Primary interface coordinating with Test Engineering Hardware and Software engineering.
  • Integrator working with multiple disciplines to ensure a successful solution development, delivering through sustainment
  • Perform Verification and Validation of Test Solutions
  • Perform trade study and market analysis to benchmark industry leading Test Solutions
  • Support Product line strategy for Test Solutions; support process improvement and reuse of technical solutions at a Systems level
  • Support Test time reduction and analyze test failures
  • Provides technical mentoring to other junior engineers

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Experience working with requirements management tools (e.g., Jama Connect or similar)
  • U.S. Citizen

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Previous knowledge of CE Mark and/or RoHS requirements
  • Experience in requirements development including but not limited to stakeholder analysis, decomposition of systems level requirements into hardware and software sub-systems
  • Good communication & organization skills
  • Experience with manufacturing Test equipment in a production or service center setting
  • Experience with Aviation products

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
