We are looking for you to join our team as an Industrial and Material Logistics Manager.
What You'll get to Do:
As the *Industrial and Material Logistics Manager, *you will serve as a foundational leader for our brand-new Blue Ridge Advanced Manufacturing Center. This is a high-impact opportunity to architect the production landscape of a startup-style environment backed by the resources of a global defense leader.
You will be the primary architect of our *Material and Logistics organization *bridging the gap between high-level program strategy and the tactical pulse of the shop floor. We are looking for a systems-thinking visionary who can take a greenfield site, establish a high-performing team and implement a world-class industrial and material logistics organization from the first work order to final delivery.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Site Launch & System Architecture: Lead the configuration and deployment of ERP and MES systems (specifically SAP S/4 HANA PEO) for the new Waynesboro site.

  • Master Program Execution: Develop and execute Top-Line Program Schedules, translating contract requirements into actionable production milestones.

  • Team Building: Recruit a diverse talent pool and cultivate an agile workforce capable of scaling with the greenfield site; develop mentorship lanes, cross-training curricula, and rapid-onboarding playbooks that ensure the team can meet changing production demands while maintaining 100 % mission readiness.

  • Shop Floor Orchestration: Oversee the strategic release of shop floor work orders, ensuring seamless synchronization between material receipts, kitting operations, and assembly.

  • Shop Floor Optimization: Analyze material throughput for various optimization scenarios, coordinating cross-functionally to ensure production throughput commitments are achieved. Examples: Theory of Constraints (TOC), LEAN single-piece flow, progressive lines, automation cells, etc.

  • Inventory & Cost Strategy: Direct Sundry Inventory and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs; leverage Statistical Process Control (SPC) and AI-driven analytics to optimize inventory costs and maintain 100% mission readiness.

  • Resource Balancing: Develop and maintain data-driven capacity-planning models that align labor, equipment, and material availability with production demand. Deploy real-time shop-floor visual-management tools (digital boards, KPI dashboards, and visual holds) to surface bottlenecks, track throughput, and enable rapid, informed decision-making.

  • Budget and Utilization Management: Own the departmental budget, driving cost-to-target initiatives that achieve labor-utilization and overhead-expense targets. Implement variance-analysis processes, enforce disciplined spend-control mechanisms, and partner with finance to report key financial metrics that support strategic decision-making and continuous-improvement goals.

Basic Qualifications for the Industrial and Material Logistics Manager:

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 9 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing/Production or 7 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing/Production with a Master's Degree

  • Experience in MRP/ERP/MES logic and managing complex "Order to Cash" lifecycles

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S.

Government Do

D Secret Security Clearance:

  • US citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with SAP S/4HANA and Production Engineering and Operations (PEO)

  • Experience in manufacturing, high-rate production, defense, or electronics

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Systems Engineering, or a related STEM degree

  • Six Sigma Black Belt with a proven track record of reducing variability using SPC

  • APICS - CPIM Certification

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

  • Demonstrated AI Certifications with experience applying machine learning to supply chain, production optimization or predictive maintenance

  • Startup/Launch Experience: Previous experience supporting the stand-up of a new manufacturing facility or product line

Primary Level Salary Range: $104,600.00 - $156,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
