Your opportunity
At Schwab, you're empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us "challenge the status quo" and transform the finance industry together.

We are looking to add an iOS Architect to our organization to provide dedicated oversight for our most widely used platform. While we have strong architectural leadership in mobile, investing in an iOS-focused expert will ensure we continue to align with our strategic goals and maintain excellence in the platform our client rely on most. This role will help drive daily technology decisions, optimize iOS development processes, and contribute to broader strategic initiatives, strengthening our overall mobile strategy.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leading the iOS Platform: As the most used platform in our organization, the iOS platform is critical to our success. The iOS Architect will ensure high visibility and support by a dedicated engineer, driving technology decisions and innovation.
  • Providing Technical Leadership: Currently, iOS engineers and leads lack a dedicated technical leader to guide their decisions and foster a culture of technical excellence. This role will empower them to become technology drivers and contribute more effectively.
  • Establishing Best Practices: The dedicated architect will establish and enforce best practices, reducing technical debt, improving code quality, and increasing development efficiency.
  • Supporting Strategic Focus: The role will free up the Distinguished Engineer and existing Android Architect to focus on broader strategic issues and initiatives across the organization.
  • Ensuring Scalability, Performance, and Security: The iOS Architect will ensure the scalability, performance, and security of the iOS applications. This requires a high level of expertise and undivided focus to dig deep into these details for the platform.
  • Aligning with Business Goals: Ensuring alignment with overall business goals and architectural standards. As teams work on features daily, there needs to be constant oversight to ensure that the gap between technology and business needs does not deviate.
  • Driving Innovation: The iOS Architect will drive technology decisions and innovation, ensuring that the iOS platform remains at the forefront of mobile technology.
  • Collaborating with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with other architects and technical leads to ensure that iOS development aligns with the broader mobile and backend architecture.
  • Documenting Technical Plans: Plan and write technical documentation to support the development and maintenance of the iOS platform.
  • Mentoring and Training: Mentor and train iOS engineers to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
