  • Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an excellent opportunity for a Principal System Administrator
  • X-Lab System Administrator (25-507) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This position, based at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO, plays a vital role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires working on-site with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial part of the Missile Defense System. It provides a vital operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC provides a layered missile defense capability, offering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It functions as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to enhance overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC plays a key role in all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.
This position will serve as the primary point of contact for user interactions and issues. It will primarily support users in person, over a secure phone, via email, or through instant messaging (IM). Since this role is customer-facing, excellent customer service skills, along with IT skills, are essential. You should be comfortable diagnosing and troubleshooting issues with remote users on a daily basis. Additionally, this position will support MDA flight tests, focus on integrating R&D systems into C2BMC, and contribute to other ongoing X-Lab projects as needed.
Essential Functions:

  • The role also involves regular interaction with internal and external customers and representing the organization in providing solutions to complex technical issues related to specific projects

  • This is a full-time position at Schriever SFB and is not remote. Occasional off-hours work may also be required

  • Creating domain accounts, including adding capabilities to restricted security groups

  • Resetting user passwords

  • Troubleshooting user VOi issues

  • Installing and troubleshooting applications for users

  • Troubleshooting user thin clients

  • Collaborating with the Active Directory team and compliance/patching admins to update processes and procedures

Basic Qualifications:

Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree

  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

  • Applicants must have a current active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.), which is required to start

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% to support business needs

  • Experience managing Red Hat 7/8/9 in an enterprise setting

  • Experience managing Windows 10/11 in an enterprise environment

  • Software development using Java (or other object-oriented languages)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-4 years of experience supporting users in an enterprise-level system

  • Skilled in installing and troubleshooting Windows and Linux applications

  • Experience with Java

  • Comfortable communicating professionally with users and customers in an IT service environment

  • Able to write and edit technical documentation of processes and procedures using tools like Atlassian Confluence

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,200.00 - $136,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
