Team Overview:

We manage the strategic partnership between Morgan Stanley and MUFG, including coordination with the Japan Joint Venture entities – Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities (MSMS) and Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities (MUMSS).

We focus on strategic initiatives and issues from the perspective of Morgan Stanley as a shareholder of MUMSS and a Global Alliance partner with MUFG.

About the Role:

You will work closely with senior leaders, including the Japan CEO and Management Committee, as well as the Head of Wealth Management Alliance. Your work will help drive strategic projects – especially expanding Wealth Management capabilities within our JV partner. The role offers significant exposure to senior management and teams across Morgan Stanley, MSMS, MUFG, and MUMSS.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze JV business performance and identify collaboration opportunities
  • Work with Morgan Stanley teams globally to develop strategic initiatives with MUFG
  • Prepare presentations for senior management on JV and Alliance performance and strategy, and provide updates on industry trends in Japan and globally
  • Support preparation for recurring meetings C-Suite meetings across the two firms
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure strong risk and compliance processes

Qualifications:

  • Experience in investment banking, financial services, or consulting (ideally with a focus on the financial industry)

  • Understanding of the business model for institutional securities, wealth management, and/or asset management

  • Ability to work in our small, tight-knit team to build trust with internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong work ethic, communication, analytical, and project-management skills

  • Curiosity and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Fluency in Japanese and English

  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
