We’re seeking someone to join our team as a M&A and Capital Markets Lawyer in Legal to provide coverage to our Investment Banking (IBD) and Global Capital Markets (GCM) business units across Asia Pacific (ex-Japan).
In the Legal & Compliance division, we assist the Firm in achieving its business objectives by facilitating and overseeing the Firm’s management of legal, regulatory and franchise risk. This is a Vice President level position within the Asia Pacific Investment Banking Legal Coverage Group who work collaboratively with investment bankers to provide top quality legal advice and support for the region’s highest profile M&A and capital markets transactions.

What you'll do in the role:
In addition to providing expert legal advice to support M&A and Capital Markets transactions, you will:
• Interact regularly with senior management and other risk functions to manage Legal risk and protect the Firm’s reputation
• Instruct and manage relationships with external counsel
• Devise policies and procedures to adapt to regulatory changes
• Contribute to training and knowledge sharing programs for IBD/GCM and Legal and Compliance
What you'll bring to the role:
• Lawyer with 8+ years post-qualification experience
• Team player with first rate analytical skills and the ability to identify and resolve issues in a fast-paced environment. Flexible, proactive, and entrepreneurial
• Excellent oral and written communication skills (including legal drafting) in English
• Experience in HK and US M&A and capital markets transactions (HK public takeover experience is a must)
• US, HK or UK qualified (or other common law jurisdiction) with experience at a top tier international law firm or a leading investment bank
• Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese is beneficial
