We are seeking someone to join the Asset Services Risk team as a Director within Shared Services & Banking Operations to play a pivotal role in steering non-financial risk management activities across the department. Your expertise will be central to driving key initiatives such as risk & control assessment, operational risk governance, and the development of divisional reporting, metrics and risk monitoring processes.

In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is a Team Supervisor position at Director level within the Firmwide Operations division.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Proactively identify existing and emerging risks in individual and departmental processes and contribute to strategies for mitigating them

  • Coordinate key risk processes across Asset Services functions within Operations, including business continuity, information security, and other compliance activities

  • Oversee the preparation of risk reports and convey actionable insights to senior stakeholders within Operations and across the firm

  • Supervise reporting of risk incidents within Asset Services and perform thematic analysis to identify trends and recommend mitigating controls

  • Analyze and interpret complex issues or non-standard issues, identify risks, root causes and propose future actions, tracking through to resolution

  • Build and manage relationships with business unit partners and other Morgan Stanley infrastructure departments

  • This role includes but is not limited to providing oversight and monitoring of operational risk, third party/outsourcing risk, control framework validation and testing and the reinforcement of regulatory requirements, policies and procedures.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Front-to-back knowledge of the processes, projects, systems, markets and instruments that impact Operations with a comprehensive understanding of job-related operational/compliance policies and procedures

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to distill complex issues into clear insights and actions

  • Ability to think commercially, understand the impact of initiatives, and be able to handle multiple work streams and prioritize effectively

  • Culture carrier and role model, representing and leading the Firm's core values to influence and motivate those around you

  • Awareness of the long-term impact of regulatory environment and market changes on the business

  • Between 3-5 years supporting operational functions within a large investment bank, preferably within experience of working in Risk, Compliance or Audit departments

  • Strong Communication skills as the candidate will be expected to develop relationships with senior stakeholders, auditors, and third-party vendors

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, experience with tools like Power BI or Alteryx is an advantage
