We are seeking a Credit Risk Stress Testing Analyst to support the Credit Risk Stress Testing team (Lending and Counterparty) within the Credit Risk Department, based in Budapest. We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds and experiences who are eager to learn and grow. In this role, you’ll be part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team focused on portfolio-level analysis, stress loss projections, and scenario analysis for the Institutional Securities Group (ISG). You’ll work closely with global stakeholders and gain exposure to a wide range of financial products and risk management practices. The Credit Risk Department (~150 employees) is a key line of defence for Morgan Stanley. Within this department, Credit Risk Stress Testing team (~ 25 members) is a diverse, global group bringing together a wide range of backgrounds and experience. The team’s contributions are essential to fulfilling the firm’s regulatory obligations.

In the Firm Risk Management division, we advise businesses across the Firm on risk mitigation strategies, develop tools to analyse and monitor risks and lead key regulatory initiatives.

What you’ll do in the role:

  • Analyse and identify potential vulnerabilities based on stress loss projections under various internal and regulatory scenarios. You will have the opportunity to learn about regulatory exercises, for example, CCAR, CECL, IFRS9, and Climate Risk.
  • Communicate scenario analysis results clearly to senior management and global stakeholders.
  • Contribute to risk identification, scenario design, and ad-hoc stress testing exercises.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Risk, Finance, IT, Business) to enhance processes and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Drive process improvements through automation and advanced analytics.
  • Present findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • A degree in a quantitative discipline (economics, finance, statistics/mathematics, sciences/engineering, or business administration).
  • Comfort with data analytics tools such as Excel
  • Fundamental understanding of financial products (Loans and Derivatives).
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset and eagerness to learn in a dynamic environment.
  • Good to have but not necessary: SQL, VBA knowledge and familiarity with regulatory frameworks (Basel, IFRS9, CCAR, EBA) is a plus.
