Overview
At Microsoft, we are building the next generation of AI systems that transform how organizations work, operate, and create value. We are living in an era of unprecedented possibility, innovation, and openness as we continue to push the boundaries of AI.
Our vision is bold: to build a truly open architecture platform that enables users to summon bespoke AI agents and drive real, meaningful business outcomes.
As part of this journey, the Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) organization partners directly with customers to translate complex, real-world problems into production-grade AI solutions, bringing cutting-edge AI innovation from concept to impact. As customer demand and regional footprint evolve, the scope of this role is expected to expand, with opportunities to influence how Forward Deployed Engineering is built and scaled in India over time. Ideal candidates bring a strong balance of deep AI understanding and practical software engineering experience, enabling them to design, develop, and deploy sophisticated systems at scale with an experimentation-driven, iterative mindset. Success in this role requires strong customer passion, a bias for action, and the ability to operate effectively across organizational boundaries.
Responsibilities:
As a Microsoft Forward Deployed Engineer, you’ll be a hands-on builder working in close partnership with customers to address their most pressing challenges. Whether through direct collaboration on-site, virtually, or in hybrid models, you’ll immerse yourself in their mission to design and deliver AI-powered solutions that create measurable impact. You’ll move quickly from concept to prototype to production, iterating alongside stakeholders to ensure solutions are both technically sound and operationally adopted.
Your work will span engineering data pipelines and integrations, building custom applications, and deploying scalable workflows that bring AI to life in critical business processes. Importantly, your role doesn’t end at launch -- you’ll remain accountable for monitoring, refining, and driving adoption of what you build. As a bridge between the customer environment and Microsoft’s engineering teams, you’ll also share insights from the field that influence the direction of our AI platforms. Finally, as part of a growing FDE community, you’ll contribute to knowledge sharing, mentor peers, and help set the standards for how Microsoft delivers AI-first transformation.
