As a US Expansion Planning Engineer, you will be a key contact in preparing for production in a new high volume memory manufacturing facility in Boise, Idaho, calculating and presenting capital impacts of processes that will be introduced at the site to senior leaders in manufacturing and R&D.

Based in Boise, you will be responsible for connecting many parts of the business to drive the execution of manufacturing and cost savings processes, including supply chain, finance, engineering, procurement, production, and R&D. Innovation is highly valued at Micron, and you will have the opportunity to develop new tools to expedite, optimize and refine the planning and reporting processes used to prepare, ramp, and operate the site.

The ability to understand and efficiently communicate capital impacts of manufacturing changes is essential. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Optimize capacity of equipment base and lead site- and tool-level optimization studies for efficiency improvement
  • Collaborate with partners to understand future tool and process roadmaps, and calculate network capacity impacts of process changes
  • Complete financial analyses before new capital equipment is purchased, including metrics optimization, process flexibility, capacity sharing and equipment repurpose
  • Handle site tool utilization and capacity planning models to optimize the site’s deployed capital
  • Design, track, and communicate capital change proposals to manufacturing senior leaders through reporting tools (e.g. Tableau) and formal presentation
  • Build and implement tools to audit manufacturing capital efficiency and identify cost reduction opportunities
  • Lead and communicate improvement opportunities and implementation plans to all relevant levels and functions in manufacturing
  • Apply new (e.g. Python, SQL, R) and traditional (Excel, VBA) methods to improve and automate tasks in the planning system/models

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Business-related or quantitative field (Finance, Economics, or similar subject area), and 2 years of experience in a combination of capacity planning, business analyst and / or process analyst roles

  • Master's degree in Engineering or a Business-related or quantitative field (Finance, Economics, or similar subject area)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience turning sophisticated and ambiguous problem statements into structured solutions while working in a highly multi-functional environment
  • Experience operating independently while maintaining a high degree of organization and control
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data, drawing conclusions, defining recommended actions, and reporting results across diverse technical and non-technical groups
  • Experience working in teams, establishing and maintaining multi-functional and working relationships
  • 1- 3 years of experience in crafting and developing web-based reporting metrics (e.g. Tableau, Python)
