The Quality Management Office (QMO) at Micron Technology protects and improves organizational value. It safeguards the Micron brand and ensures a strong customer perception of quality. The team supports global processes through auditing, risk‑based analysis, and maintaining compliance with internal, regulatory, statutory, and customer requirements. As part of a highly collaborative organization, the QMO partners with departments and leaders worldwide to strengthen Micron’s Quality Management System.

Position Overview:

As a Quality Systems Lead Auditor, you will prepare, support, and conduct customer, certification, and internal audits across Micron’s global processes. Your role centers on capturing and evaluating information on the overall quality management system health, identifying risks, reporting findings to leadership, and following up for any non-conformity closures. You will also support external audits, contribute to quality system improvements, and apply strong auditing skills to drive balanced, compliant processes across the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan Audit, Objectives and Schedule:

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the Internal Audit Schedule (System, Process, and Product Audits), the Customer Audit, and Certification Audit schedule.

  • Capture information from production, service, development, and supporting activities assessing areas of risk; analyze business process systems.

  • Lead Auditor duties include assisting with audit team selection, preparing and accomplishing audit plans, and representing the audit team with management, customers, and certification bodies.

  • Conduct and Follow-up on Audits:

  • Perform internal quality audits (System, Process, Product, and special audits), identifying non‑conformities, strengths, and improvement opportunities to mitigate risk.

  • Identify process improvements, analyze findings, summarize results, and facilitate Closing Meetings with management.

  • Assist with root‑cause analysis and corrective actions; follow up to ensure actions are implemented and effective; communicate results to management and maintain strong cross‑functional collaboration.

  • Host External Audits:

  • Coordinate schedules with the greater QMO team and business process teams; support preparation activities including line tours and mentoring.

  • Participate onsite, facilitate Closing Meetings, support post‑audit action planning, and follow up on non‑conformities to ensure recurrence is prevented.

  • Act as auditee for the “Manage Quality Audit” process as needed and contribute to continuous improvement of the QMS by sharing guidelines.

  • Ongoing Responsibilities:

  • Maintain knowledge of external and internal standards; quality systems, methods, and auditor proficiencies; support improvement projects and resolution of non‑conforming conditions.

  • Communicate optimally at all levels of the organization, manage audit tasks with miminimal directionand analyze issues to make well‑reasoned recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in internal, customer, and/or certification audits.

  • Awareness or experience with internal audit standards frameworks and certification rules, including ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to collaborate cross‑functionally and work under tight timeframes.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to complete assignments on time with minimal direction; strong multi‑tasking and problem‑solving abilities; understanding of customer requirement assessment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of auditing experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably semiconductors; BS in Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems, Business Process Systems, risk‑based auditing, and Core Tools (FMEA, SPC, APQP, PPAP, MSA, 8D).

  • Knowledge of VDA 6.3 and ASPICE; Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 highly desired.

  • Additional certifications in ISO 26262, ISO 21434, AS9100, TISAX; experience with Micron QMS, audit management systems, or global/multi‑site audits.

  • Fluent in English; ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%; passionate about teamwork, continual improvement, and adapting to change.
