Job Description:

Our company is seeking a Semantic Data Engineer to join the Knowledge Graphs & Semantic Engineering Services team in the Prague Tech Center. This team is dedicated to making use of research data efficient in support of data-driven drug discovery. We create reusable data products that provide analysis-ready data to our data scientists advancing pharmaceutical research. We design, implement, and use tools for data acquisition, integration, and enrichment using semantic web technologies and data exchange standards to reduce the friction and duplication of application-specific data engineering effort. If you are passionate about data integration and semantic web technologies, and want to contribute to groundbreaking research, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

  • Build ETL pipelines to integrate data in knowledge graphs
  • Create mappings to internal standard ontologies and reference datasets
  • Create database queries to support effective use of the integrated data

Qualifications

Required

  • Proficiency with semantic web technology stack (e.g., RDF data format, SPARQL query language)
  • Experience in data engineering (e.g., SQL queries, ETL jobs)
  • Command of at least one programming language, such as Python
  • Experience with DevOps practices like source code version control (e.g., Git), continuous integration (CI), and continuous delivery (CD)
  • A university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Bioinformatics, or Cheminformatics; or relevant skills and experience
  • Professional proficiency in English

Preferred

  • Familiarity with biology, chemistry, and pharmaceutical research
  • Good written and verbal communication and ability to collaborate with other teams to develop solutions
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services, particularly the serverless services (e.g., Neptune, Lambda, Step Functions)
  • Understanding of FAIR principles
  • Experience with Atlassian stack of tools for agile software development (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
  • Demonstrate growth mindset and ability to work with enterprise teams
