Title and Summary
Software Engineer II (AWS Platform)
We are seeking a motivated Senior Software Engineer to join Mastercard's AWS Platform Engineering Team. You will be working towards designing, building, and maintaining a scalable, secure, and highly available cloud platform on AWS. The ideal candidate is expected to have a strong understanding of AWS Platform & Services, Software Engineering, DevOps practices, and Problem solving skills.

The Role
-
Design, implement, and maintain a scalable multi-account AWS platform, leveraging services like AWS Organizations, VPC, IAM, EKS, EC2, S3, etc.

Develop and manage infrastructure using tools like AWS CDK and CloudFormation.
-
Manage secure connectivity using technologies like AWS Private Link, Transit Gateway, and Direct Connect.
-
Implement and maintain secure access controls and guardrails using AWS Control Tower, Service Control Policies (SCPs), and IAM.
-
Engage and improve the lifecycle of the AWS platform and services -- from development to deployment, operation, and refinement.
-
Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.

Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortem.

All About You
-
2+ years of experience in AWS cloud engineering or similar roles.
-
Hands-on experience with AWS services like EKS, EC2, Lambda, etc.
-
Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (AWS CDK).
-
Experience with CI/CD tools like AWS Code Pipeline, Jenkins, BitBucket/GitHub, Artifactory, Sonarqube, etc.
-
Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and experience applying them in languages like Python or Java.

Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages.
-
Experience with software deployment and configuration automation.
-
Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks.
-
Systematic problem-solving approach, with effective communication skills and a sense of drive.

Preferred Qualifications
-
AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Sys Ops Administrator, or DevOps Engineer.

Familiarity with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.

Knowledge of security best practices and frameworks.
