32 hours per week split between Salem Hospital (16 hours) and Lynn Medical Village (16 hours)

Minimum hourly rate of pay for this position will be $43.10 and increase with experience.
Job Summary
Receiving direction from the Director of Radiology and Unit Operations Manager and or Technical Manager, incumbent operates radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic x-ray films as directed by physician; must have the capability to perform routine diagnostic procedures with speed, accuracy, method and understanding of theory behind the same. In addition to performing screening, diagnostic, specimen and interventional examinations, incumbent ensures adherence to regulations set forth by the American College of Radiology (ACR), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adjusts equipment to correct setting for procedures.
Positions and instructs patients regarding the procedure.
Determines the proper voltage, current and desired exposure time and sets equipment.
Arranges, attaches or adjusts supportive devices to prevent the patient from moving and to aid in some comfort during exams.
Positions equipment and patient for optimal imaging.
Repeats exposure procedure from slightly different angles as pre-
scribed by physician and or radiologist.
Responsible for the complete image process, including transmission of images and verification of images on PACS.
Maintains records for quality assurance of all x-ray equipment and processors. Including weekly Quality Control documentation.
Provides on-the-job training to x-ray students as assigned.
Responsible for annual MQSA and Department of Public Health (DPH) inspection at MGH/Northshore.
Enrolled and receives updates from FDA and ACR websites for all revisions and new guidelines to be followed for future inspections.
Participate in ‘All Site’ Breast meetings via tele-conference or attending in person.
Performs and records all Quality Assurance testing: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Annual
Liaison with the medical physicist and vendor support personnel.
Monitors, investigates, reports and follows up on technical call back issues to the Lead Technologist and/or Operations Manager.
Ensures maintenance and service records of all equipment pertaining to hospital, state, federal and ACR regulations/guidelines.
Coordinates, schedules and manages all equipment for preventative maintenance (PM) and upgrades. Provides documentation of software versions.
Responsible for all mammography accreditations through the ACR.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of high school diploma and successful completion of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
- Must be certified by the ARRT and must possess a valid license to practice as a radiologic technologist in Massachusetts.
- Must be certified in Mammography.
- 5 years Mammography experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge and use of imaging equipment to include all interventional Breast exams.
Knowledge of anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, medical terminology.
Knowledge of the principles of radiation physics and radiographic chemistry.
Knowledge of radiographic positioning and radiographic equipment.
Knowledge of universal precautions.
Effective interpersonal and communications skills.
Attention to detail.
Ability to provide compassionate care to patients.
Ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately.
Ability to lift over 5 lbs.
Must be able to read and write English.
Must possess the ability to assess patient specific data relative to age-specific needs and provide appropriate care.
Must demonstrate excellent organizational, troubleshooting and communications skills both written and verbal.
Proficiency in documenting and analyzing with the ability to follow through in regards to equipment troubleshooting for problem resolution.
